power
is like an eel
slick and hard to grab onto
but oh so tasty and savory
with poison blood

you have her one moment
then she’s back in the murky inky depths

power breeds in a secret place
power chooses who to reveal herself to
power gorges herself on smaller fry
and hides and waits and waits for years
